Sri Lanka Insurance Life – The Nations’ protector, over the years have had contributed to the betterment of the future generation of the country. Sri Lanka Insurance Life (SLICLL) is not only one of the most profitable state owned enterprises but also a responsible corporate citizen that enriches the community it operates in.
SLIC Life launched the 'Sri Lanka Insurance Life – Suba Pathum Scholarship' programme in 2014 to recognise and reward the academic excellence of the children of its Life policyholders across the country. Since its inception, the initiative has awarded over 2,425 scholarships, with a cumulative value exceeding Rs. 265 million. This year, the programme will award scholarships to 227 outstanding students who excelled at the 2024 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination, G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination, and G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination. The recipients include 77 Grade 5 Scholarship, 70 G.C.E. Ordinary Level, and 74 G.C.E. Advanced Level achievers. In addition, six students who secured national rankings at the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination will receive special recognition under this year's scholarship programme. Recipients of the Grade 5 Scholarship and G.C.E. Ordinary Level scholarships were selected based on their district-level performance, while G.C.E. Advanced Level scholarship recipients were chosen based on their national-level achievements.
A Financial scholarship of Rs. 20,000 for five years, Rs. 40,000 for two years and Rs. 50,000 for three years is awarded to the students who are eligible for the Suba Pathum scholarship from Grade 5 Scholarship, GCE Ordinary Level and GCE Advanced Level examinations, respectively. This year, SLIC Life has further expanded the programme to recognise exceptional academic excellence beyond its policyholders by awarding a one-time scholarship of Rs. 150,000 to top national performers at the 2024 GCE Advanced Level Examination. A total of Rs. 25.3 Mn has been allocated for the 2026 Suba Pathum Scholarship programme.
The scholarship awarding ceremony was held at the Temple Trees, Colombo on the 17th of July 2026 with the participation of the Chairman and Board of Directors, Chief Officers and the senior management team of Sri Lanka Insurance Life along with the students and their parents.

Through wide reaching Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, the company continues to support education, community development, and cultural preservation. To commemorate World Children’s Day, a Rs. 1 million free life insurance cover is provided to parents of every child born on October 1st, across all hospitals in the country, a gesture now in its fourth consecutive year. ‘Pasal Piriyatha’ project has improved infrastructure in 3,365 underprivileged schools creating a better learning environments for underprivileged children across the country since the program's inception in 2007.
The company’s enduring support for cultural heritage is reflected in its involvement with traditional Peraheras and the annual assistance provided to Poson pilgrims in Anuradhapura. Additionally, in response to the Ditwah cyclone, the Company also supported affected communities through relief efforts and contributions to national recovery initiatives.
